Corset Strength
Different corsets made of different material and structure have different strength and durability. We ranked our corsets as below to help you choose the design base on your needs;
Fashion corset. Relatively delicate material, can only take 1 inch off your natural waist, high chances of tearing if over-tightened/mistreated.
Fashion corset. Delicate material, can take 2 inches off your natural waist, moderate chances of tearing if over-tightened/mistreated.
Waist cinching corset. Relatively strong material, can take 3 to 4 inches off your natural waist, relatively low chances of tearing if over-tightened/mistreated.
Waist cinching corset. Strong material, can take 4 to 5 inches off your natural waist, low chances of tearing if over-tightened/mistreated.
Waist training corset. Super strong material, can take over 5 inches off your natural waist, very minor chances of tearing if over-tightened/mistreated.
(Mistreated: forcefully bend your corset when wearing one; machine wash/dry; folding against the boning; non-professional alteration.)
Certain corsets are ranked lower/higher than similar corsets in the same range due to the following reasons;
The closure is not strong enough:
Steel busk and hook-eye closure are the strongest, whereas certain zippers (older designs) can spoil easily if the corset is overtighten.
No inner layer support:
PVC and sheer lace materials tear easily; thus are mostly ranked 1-2☆ only, but some can be ranked up to 4☆ or 5☆ if they have strong inner layer to support and protect the outer layer.
The bonings:
Generally, steelbone corsets are made of better structure and material than softbone corset, they mostly have double or triple layers of fabric to strengthen the whole corset.
